Bayern Munich could be back in the race for Chelsea winger Christopher Nkunku in the summer transfer window.

The German giants were interested in signing the Blues winger during the January window, but they did not want to pay £60m.

Nkunku has struggled to make an impact under Enzo Maresca, and he could reportedly leave Stamford Bridge in the summer window.

Christopher Nkunku is likely to leave Chelsea

The 27-year-old played a significant role for Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup, but the Blues are still looking to sell him.

Nkunku has managed 61 games for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring 18 goals, but the French attacker struggled to make an impact last season, managing only nine starts.

Chelsea have signed Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens in the summer, and they are reportedly looking to add the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons.

If both players arrive at the club, it could push Nkunku further down the pecking order.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed this week that Nkunku was among six players who were left out of Chelsea’s squad against Bayer Leverkusen, and they are expected to leave the club.

Bayern still in the race for Christopher Nkunku

The German champions are still looking to bolster their attacking ranks despite signing Luis Diaz, and they could reignite interest in Nkunku.

Christian Falk previously told CFBayern that Bayern’s interest in Nkunku has cooled down, but it appears they have not forgotten him completely.

Nkunku is not in Maresca’s plans. Ben Jacobs has claimed on the London is Blue Podcast that Manchester United are out of the race for the former RB Leipzig winger.

However, Bayern could reignite their interest in the player, although Nick Woltemade remains their first-choice target.

The Athletic claimed previously that Chelsea are willing to accept bids in the region of €50m (£43.39m) for Nkunku, and it remains to be seen if Bayern make an offer in the coming days.
