Chelsea are firmly in the swing of things when it comes to player sales, and it looks as if they are about to add one of their youngsters to the list of permanent exits.
The Blues are in the process of finalising a number of deals to raise funds, with one of those being the sale of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after just one year at the club.
Despite playing a key role in the Club World Cup and Conference League victories, and the fact Dewsbury-Hall didn’t want to leave Chelsea, he is set for a move to Everton.
Armando Broja, Carney Chukwuemeka and Lesley Ugochukwu are all set for moves too, however it looks as if they are looking further than senior players when it comes to shifting players on this summer.
Chelsea set to say goodbye to Alex Matos with permanent sale
Alex Matos made a number of first team squads during the time Mauricio Pochettino was in charge of the Blues, however has spent the majority of his time at the club on loan elsewhere.
Even while Enzo Maresca has been at the helm, Matos has been seen in first team training, showing that the club are clearly fans of his at a youth level.
However, it looks as if his time as a Chelsea player is set to come to an end. According to The Athletic, the midfielder is moving towards a permanent exit from the club this summer.
Matos has already spent time on loan at Huddersfield Town and Oxford United, and a move to the EFL is what looks the most likely at this stage.
Matos made his mark on loan
After relegation from the Championship in his first season on loan, he was part of an Oxford side who maintained their place in the league with a 17th placed finish.
He made his mark on manager Gary Rowett, who described the youngster as ‘fantastic’ during his time there (Oxford Mail).
He had made it clear that he wanted to keep hold of Matos for the new season, and now an opportunity has cropped up for him to return there should they look to sign him.
After joining on a free transfer, there is a chance that Chelsea can make profit on the youngster, which would further lean into the fact that Todd Boehly’s long-term plan at the club is coming good.
