National Basketball Association (NBA) community is overjoyed as Indiana Pacers superstar Tyrese Haliburton—who also serves as the team’s captain and point guard—has donated over $12.7 million to transform houses into shelters for homeless youth.

The generous donation will fund the renovation of dozens of abandoned and underused properties across Indiana, converting them into safe, modern housing for vulnerable young people in need.

Haliburton, known for his leadership on the court and his vision as the Pacers’ floor general, said in a heartfelt statement:

> “Basketball has given me everything, but nothing matters if we don’t take care of our community. Every young person deserves a safe place to call home, and I want to use what I’ve been blessed with to make that happen.”

NBA players, coaches, and fans across the league have praised Haliburton’s action, hailing him as a role model not just for his skills but for his compassion and commitment to change.

Indiana Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle called the move “an incredible act of leadership,” while NBA Commissioner Adam Silver released a statement commending Haliburton for “setting an inspiring example of service, generosity, and humanity.”

Construction on the first set of renovated homes is set to begin this fall, with the goal of welcoming the first residents before winter.

Stay tuned for more updates on this transformative project that shows the power of sports to change lives—on and off the court.
